The female body is usually allowed to be sexual or powerful, rarely both at once, and almost never in the same image. The High Priestess puts the two in one frame and lets them stare at the viewer.

Drawing on the symbolism of the High Priestess and the World, Diana transformed herself into the character, using wigs and hair as both covering and crown, the body revealed and concealed by the same hair. She art directed the entire process and collaborated with a 3D CGI artist on the background, placing a real body inside a constructed cosmology.

What remains is a figure who is not asking permission to be looked at. She is deciding what you are allowed to see and confronting you at the same time.
